Virtual Administrator Leadership Group

A 9-month, small group intensive with the support you need to become a more confident leader.

What kind of leader do you want to be next year?

You’re navigating the unique challenges of helping your students become stronger, more engaged, and independent readers, writers, and thinkers.

You’re leading your teachers in balanced literacy, and you’d love to feel more sure of your skills — be it in particular areas or grade levels.

There are so many parts and pieces — mini-lessons, conferring, small groups, read alouds, shared reading, shared writing, interactive writing, phonics, and word study. It’s a LOT to know and to support.

Imagine it’s the summer of 2021, and you’re…

  • Closing out a great school year — maybe your best yet
  • Proud because you were able to give better, clearer, more nuanced feedback to your teachers — whether you watched them live or in brick and mortar
  • Excited because your teachers were more engaging this year than ever. And even better, they’ve put markers in place to track growth and progress.
  • Feeling fulfilled because your teachers are enjoying their work and are more confident than ever

Students ARE readers and writers — and they believe it, too.

What it is: You, along with up to 23 other educators will meet virtually with Dahlia monthly during the school year. Dahlia has supported leaders across the country and internationally with balanced literacy for 15+ years. You’ll get personal access to tap into her experience for the entire school year.

When you get stuck or have questions, Dahlia is there to keep you moving.

When: September 2 – June 2, 2021, the first Wednesday of each month from 3 – 4:30 pm Pacific Time.

Who it’s for: US-based educators using balanced literacy, including a reading and writing workshop approach at your school or in your district.

And you’re a…

  • Superintendent
  • District Leader
  • Principal
  • Assistant Principal

Here’s what we’ll do together:

  • Monthly support where you need it most.

Each month, we’ll focus on a theme relevant to the time of the year and issues you need assistance with. For example, sessions at the beginning of the year will focus on administering running records, helping teachers launch reading and writing workshop both virtual (and in their classrooms — if they return to school), assisting teachers in planning a clear scope and sequence, being creative with their schedules now that most of us are teaching remotely, and clear communication with parents. Later in the year, sessions will focus on helping teachers plan for the upcoming school year and setting kids up for summer reading and writing.

  • Diversity, equity, and inclusion support.

This will be a part of our learning year-round. We’ll support you in helping every student to live out their fullest potential.

  • Book study — Lucy Calkins’s professional book, Leading Well.

Together, we’ll review this book and discuss the nuances of what Leading Well looks like for you.

  • Connect with a community of trusted educators.

You’ll have opportunities to work with a community of like-minded, supportive administrator colleagues. You can bring topics, questions, challenges, and wins to the group and get feedback where you need it most.

  • Guest speakers tailored to your needs.

You’ll hear from guest speakers throughout the year to help you dig deeper into topics where you need more support.

  • Monthly Office Hours
In addition to our small group calls, you’ll have access to join our monthly office hours — where all educators get answers to questions and support navigating current challenges.
Third Thursday each month from 3:30-4:30 pm Pacific Time.

This group will be designed for you and with you in mind.

Finally, you’ll feel more confident leading the literacy work at your school during this challenging time. You’ll have all the expert guidance you need to support teachers with virtual and hybrid teaching.

When you do transition back into the physical classroom, you’ll get all the support you need so that you’re more prepared to lead.

Investment: $1500 for the year.

That’s just $125/month!

Payment accepted: PO or school check made out to Literacy Partners LLC.

Meet your group facilitator:

Dahlia Dallal is the founding director of Literacy Partners, a boutique educational consulting firm that uses innovative practices for professional development in literacy.

We work side-by-side with educators to help them incorporate a workshop approach to teaching. This method helps them cultivate more engaged students who love reading and writing.

By focusing on what kids want to learn, we create more independent students who become stronger readers, writers, and creative thinkers.
